Nila Entertainment
Nila means moon — the light that has watched over every generation that ever told a story.
A thousand years ago, an empire ruled from the banks of the Kaveri. Its palaces are ruins now. Its story is not.
We exist to make sure the greatest stories ever told reach the generation that hasn't heard them yet.

THE FIRST STORY
In the 10th century, the Chola empire stretched across South India and out across the sea. At its height, the throne began to shake — an ailing emperor, a contested succession, and a conspiracy moving quietly through the court.
A young messenger rides into the middle of it, carrying letters he doesn't fully understand. A princess plays a longer game than anyone around her. A woman with a grievance against the dynasty waits for her moment. And somewhere across the water, the prince who will become one of India's greatest rulers has gone missing.
This is Ponniyin Selvan — written by Kalki Krishnamurthy, published chapter by chapter in the 1950s, and read aloud in Tamil households for seventy years since. Millions know it by heart.
We're bringing it to the ones who don't — as illustrated graphic novels and motion comics built to be someone's first encounter with the story, not a summary of it.
Some stories entertain a generation. A few outlive the empire that produced them.
Those are rarer than we pretend. Most of them survive by accident — carried by one grandmother, one teacher, one battered copy passed along. Then a generation grows up in a different language, on a different screen, and the chain breaks quietly.
Nila exists to make that survival deliberate instead of lucky.

Animated, scored and voiced, for the reader who starts by watching.
The history behind the fiction, built for classrooms and families.
Different doors. Same story. A ten-year-old and their grandfather should be able to meet inside it.
Every adaptation starts with the original text, not with a previous adaptation.
Illustration isn't decoration on a classic. For most of our readers it will be the classic.
The person who has read the book five times and the person who has never heard of it should both finish satisfied. That constraint shapes every decision we make.
Not on a content calendar.
Ponniyin Selvan is where we begin, not what we are.
The ambition is a home for timeless stories across every form worth telling them in — more historical epics, original universes, animation and film, story-led learning, and the interactive formats now becoming possible.
We'll announce those when they're real. What won't change is the question we ask before starting anything:
Will this help another generation discover a great story?
